Zoning Amendments

Planning staff identifies potential improvements to the zoning ordinance throughout the year and assembles a package of amendments.  The latest package is targeted for either January or February 2018 adoption by City Council, depending on when legal review is completed.  The proposed amendments require a public hearing by the Planning Commission and a separate public hearing by City Council.

Highlights of this year's package:

  • Creates a registry for homestays and short term rentals; modifies bed and breakfast regulations.
  • Implementing the Wireless Telecommunications Facilities Policy with updated regulations regarding towers and other facilities.
  • Amendment of the sign regulations to remove references to content (where possible) and to impose limits on the night time intensity of digital signs.

The amendment to the RM-1 district density requirement will not be brought forward.
