ROANOKE POLICE MAKE ARREST IN MURDER AT JAMESTOWN PLACE APARTMENT COMPLEX

Roanoke, Va.- On April 14, 2017 at 9:44 a.m. Roanoke Police were dispatched to a shooting in the 1600 block of Queen Ann Drive SE.  Upon arrival officers found the victim Timothy Mark Duncan, age 32 of Roanoke lying in the street. Duncan sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:15 a.m. Responding officers were provided information about a suspect vehicle and stopped a vehicle matching that description at 12th Street and Dale Avenue at 9:50 a.m. The individuals in the vehicle were all brought to the police department for questioning. After further investigation, detectives charged Jonathan Ryan Gurley, age 33 of Roanoke  with second degree murder. Gurley was one of the occupants of the vehicle that was stopped. He was taken to Roanoke City Jail. A firearm was recovered during the stop of the vehicle.  The investigation is ongoing.
