This show is an original production adapted by MMT's Education Associate, Jay Briggs, and Amanda Sox. This fast-paced play combines an exploration of Shakespeare’s biography with an introduction to some of his timeless characters and themes. As 2016 marks the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death, MMT will celebrate the life and work of the poet and playwright prolific enough to be known simply as “The Bard.”
On the first Friday of each month, the WILSON HUGHES gallery - contemporary fine art & craft and other downtown Roanoke Art Galleries are open late! ART BY NIGHT showcases Roanoke’s thriving arts community, featuring diverse galleries, museums and artist’s studios. This event supports Roanoke’s talented, local artists, and brings the community together through art openings, live music and demonstrations.

TAP Hope Fest is a one-day music festival and Independence Day celebration taking place on Saturday, July 2. This event is intended to bring together people of all ages from all walks of life, while making a positive and enriching economic and cultural impact in Roanoke. Hope Fest will bring live music, food and beverages, craft vendors, a kids zone, tribute to the troops and more to Roanoke’s Elmwood Park.
Celebrate an evening of red, white and boom with the City of Roanoke’s annual fireworks show at River’s Edge Sports Complex on July 4 beginning at 9:30 p.m. This year’s fireworks show is presented by the City of Roanoke, The Roanoke Times, WFXR, and Downtown Roanoke, Inc.
